Many experienced the stage in which they needed to have their own wellspring, yet without progress.
The metal rods help, obviously, from their own insight, however, the bars say that can be a distance between one meter and up to 16 meters. So you can't know without a doubt. I have a well on the property, more than 60 years of age. The previous owners, wanted to dig somewhere else but was a little bit far from the house, so they made it more near. But after a while, they encountered rock, too much to continue to hand dig it. This prompted a well with a consistent water of 20 cm. Close to the spring, yet they hit the stone. During extreme hot summers, usually the well gets pretty dry. So I had to make some choices one of 3 choices:
Well, first two of them sounds good, especially if combined. But here comes one issue, I could not afford even one of them. While third idea sounds fantastical and not very possible. But after thinking about this idea if it could actually be possible, I started to remember about the forests from my hometown, and how many springs are there on the rocky mountain. Then it hit me. Everywhere in the world, in any forest, you can find water. So I realized the what is missing from the picture, are TREES. So I decided to plant a few Willow trees, wild roses between and some fruit trees as well. Placed hay between them to maintain the moisture until trees get leaves to shadow the soil and to become fertilizer in time. In the first year after I used this idea, even if was a dry year and did not rain too much, I had around 200 liters of water. And the more the trees started to grow, the more water was going in the well. Trees retain water in the soil and prevents floods and landslides. And since I planted 20 trees 1 meter apart from one another in East, South and West sides of the well in 5 lines, this helped me to gain 1 cubic meter of water constant in the well. Top max that fit's in the my well are 4 cubic meters, and that point was reached after 3 years.
Water is the simplest to get as a water source. Most Earthship-style houses have introduced in the north where it is covered with earth a few tanks for the collection of water. These tanks are covered with earth, which keeps the water from freezing in winter. They are introduced above floor level to give characteristic pressing factor. At the highest point of the tanks, openings are made covered with metal channels. These metal channels are covered with a layer of coal, a layer of bigger stones, covered with a layer of more modest rock. All the water that falls on the rooftop is coordinated to these tanks, where the water is separated normally with this sort of filtration, much the same as spring water. Coal kills any microbes. For instance, the establishment of at least one tanks with a limit of 5000 liters, it would be sufficient for a group of 4 or even 6 individuals. |
